Captain Kangaroo

So i've been visiting the Homestarrunner.com website pretty frequently only to find that it still hasn't been updated since dec. 5th. You'd at least think they would have some sort of Christmas/Holiday commercial update or something.

So i got my cable bill today and for some odd reason they said that there is some sort of expense for 222 dollars. I'm not exactly thrilled about that. SO i'm going to have to raise heck to them about this unknown expense. I'm sure it was a mistake, but seriously kind of alarming when you see a 300 dollar bill when it should only be like 50.

since everybody seems to be doing the what i got for xmas i might as well post some stuff (in no specific order just what i can remember).

1. Walmart Gift Certificates (to help with the move)
2. Gap Gift Certificate (i don't think i've ever stepped into a Gap before.
3. Money to help buy a new TV.
4. Axe Body Spray (whatch out ladies of Long Beach)
5. Cologne (i'm seeing a trend here do i smell that bad?)
6. Planter Peanuts
7. A bag of specially decorated M&M's.
8. A work bag that is kind of like a gym back, but cooler which will be nice for the beach
9. A Top of the line pen.
10. A Fossil Watch.
11. AM/FM Radio.
12. A coupon book that should help me in Cali test out the different places to eat for almost free.

Well i'm off to work. have fun kids.

Christmas Times

So much has happened that i just had to post before i got home.

Bob Tried to kill me
Okay so this is quite emberassing, but bob took me weight lifting Thursday evening after he showed me the factory we worked at. I knew i was going to regret it, but geez, i didn't think i was going to lose sleep over the mass pain i had in my arms. I went to bed, slept for about 3 hours woke up in pain. kept roling in circles trying to alleviate the pain. I finally give up thinking that maybe i can find some pain killers or pain creme. I found some ICY HOT. Which so reminded me of Eric B. experience, sorry man that had to stink. So ya this whole weekend my arms have been in pain. I'm such a wuss. Hopefully at the new place that i will be living, i will have access to their on the beach weight lifting facility and get buff again.

Witness of a highspeed chase
First, i had an uneventful ride from Gburg, to My sisters house. On our way from my sisters house to my brother in laws house we start to exit this ramp. Then wee see this car on the side of us (half way off the road), Were almost at a complete stop and this car is going at least 30 miles an hour. When it gets almost to the intersection the car starts weaving back and forth debating which way to go (left or right). The car picks right then we see two cop cars follor right behind. So were thinking awesome its a car chase. Unfortunately the car turned right and we had to go left, so thats all we really got to see of the chase.

hanukkah cookies
So we find out that Beth's boyfriend bought everyone a gift so my sister starts to panic since they didn't bring anything for him. So bob comes up with this great idea to buy him a tree freshner... PRICELESS. Everyone think's it's a great idea. Unfortunately we decided to stop by a CVS store to look for a tin holder to put some candy in for him that my sister had made. In our looking for tin containers i come across this Chia Pet. So i'm thinking this would be a great gift. We had never seen anybody give or recieve or even have a chia pet. It's good enough to show that you care about the person to give him a present, but thoughtless enough to show that i'm not going to spend some real tnought into it until you join the circle of trust. More conversation spreads and bob finds these Hanukkah cookies. Once again everybody thought it would be a great idea. Bob would of course add the line "What, your aren't jewish?" after he opened the present. Unfortunately we decided to not go that option either. But i certainly had a great laugh and would have thought it hilarious to get something like that.

Internet Fix #1
So i think the main reason bob wanted me to come spend the Holiday's was to fix his parents newly bought Cable Modem/Ethernet connection. Apparently he couldn't get it to work, so i had to come fix it for him. I was the man of the hour.

Crack Potatoes
for those involved need i say more. They're addicting, and there Awesome. Thanks Bob's mom.

Snowball Attack
Bob and i were driving to Kmart to get some supplies, and out of nowhere this white thing comes flying at the car. It was a snowball. We were being attacked by teenagers throwing snow balls. We were coming back that way, if they had thrown them at us again, we would have stopped and totally beaten down those kids.

Internet Fix #2
So after Church mass, there was a gathering at one of the relatives house. Not many people at the place new that i was such a genius with setting up computers to networks. But through conversation one of the cousins mentioned that she was having problems with her router and couldn't connect to the internet through the router. Here i come to the rescue, and I save the day. Many young teenagers can have there fun Instant messaging and emailing and blogging all their close friends.

Customer Support
I'm gathering that customer support really stinks with these internet companies. They charge an arm and a leg to set up networks and things like that, and they expect people with not much computer or even networking background to set things up. If it was plug and play things would work, like with Macintosh's. But no It's plug and "Pray" with all the NON Macintosh computers. It's sad but kind of funny to listen to all of the people saying that they spend three hours on the phone with tech support. Which unfortunately if somebody called me on the phone asking for help with their computer it would probably take about that long. Unfortunately there are just way too many scenarious that could go wrong with a connection. I've had my fare share. The sad thing though is that i fixed someones computer problem, when i'm having the same exact problem. That's odd. different brand name modems will do that to you i guess.

Presents
Since Christmas is all about me, (no just kidding it's about Jesus) i figured i would share some things that i recieved at my first Bob's Parents Christmas extravaganza (i'm refraining from mentioning last names if you wouldn't tell). Deoderant, Cologne (i'm seeing a theme... do i really stink?) Peanuts, M&M's, Gift certificate to walmart, and my parents said they would help buy me a bigger TV, since the one i have is really kind of small. Thanks Mom and Dad.

Whats to come,
Tomorow we will be going to another relatives house to celebrate some more Christmas, (they have computers too, so maybe they'll need my expertise... but almost really kind of makes me wonder if i'm in the right business. I could charge an arm and a leg. I doubt i could do it for a living though. I would so get burnt out on computers. It's nice to see people's faces when they know they have access to the internet again. It's like a part of you gets lost when you know you can't be connected to the internet world.

okay sorry i got off track. So well be visiting those people, and then going to go see King Kong Sunday Evening, then driving back on Monday morning/afternoon.

This week vacation went by slow, but also very fast.

lastly i got a phone call about having my desk taken apart. During the assessment the guy said that the moving company can not dissassemble the desk, they have to get a third party to do it. Seriously it takes like 5 minutes to take apart. Walmart does it right. Unscrew in a couple of places, and whallah easy to move desk. I've moved it at least 4 times already. That desk has been really good to me.

Okay this is a huge book and i probably lost most of you already back a the 2nd paragraph because you didn't want to read all of this. But man great weekend and the Bob's parents house. I'll have to find some funny people in California to keep me entertained.

more thought for the day

So last night (really early this morning) i was thinking just how i was moving out of management, and into a desk job to be managed. No matter what our position we can always be leaders. It's just going to be weird not to have all of those types of responsibilities anymore. Rushing people to the emergency room if they get hurt, or filling out disciplinary forms for employees, Doing all that end of day government paperwork (certainly won't miss that). But i'll be going in to new changes and learning new things. It pretty much has to happen if i am going to learn this coldfusion stuff. In order to not always be dependant on, it will be nice to get away and do some training and not have to worry if the other person covering the shift is doing okay. But with every job comes new worries. Like if i should go to the beach before work, or after. Tough decisions like that. haha.

No from the description i was given, i will deffinately have my hands full. Not only dealing with the regular training that they do have, but creating a revamped training system, from what i think they want me to do. As well as to have it track training through a website (my idea) and tear apart their maintenance database rip the SQL out of it and create a User interface on the web. Which will be quite an accomplishment. For some reason i think these two years are going to go by quickly.

Which i think in three years would be my 10 year highschool reunion. So i guess i better start getting in shape. Telling everyone you moved to california could very easily be something to brag about. Maybe i'll meet up with a cool celebrity and bring her back to the reunion and shock everyone. That would be hilarious. Me friends with a celebrity. Anyways, i'm headed out to go see my bro in law and sister and his parents. Have a Good xmas everyone.

memories of the day

So today's memory i was doing some sorting (i have to make piles of what i need know, what i need in a week, and what other stuff i can wait 2 months for). And of course i came across my old wrestling stuff. It's because of wrestling that i know my weight for all four years during those seasons. But with as much as i hated going to tournaments, and meets, seeing those 1st place medals are whicked awesome. I'd say that i hope i never forget some of the matches on how i won them. But sadly i already have forgotten how i won (probably the most miraculous match i ever wrestled) my last match. It was at Regionals so the last time i won and the last time that i lost where on the same day.

Boring wrestling nastalgia
-------------------------
All i can remember is that the guy was kicking my butt. I think my coach had lost hope in me, and somehow the guy messed up, i turned him, and pinned him and won. The guys record was 29-0 so he had never been defeated before. His coaches where suprise, and you could see the two college coaches on my side one jumped into the others arms they were so happy. I can remember back in Junior High where one of the coaches said that an openent always makes at least one mistake during a match, and it's your job to expose it and take advantage of it. It was cool that my dad and Dan came along to watch. I'm not really sure if they remember much of the match.

Then of course there was the Hobart Tournament where i had to face this kid that looked like those flying monkeys on Wizard of OZ (which i think he later showed up at Vincennes when i was there). He tried to poke my eyes out. It ended up putting my contact in the back of my eye. I have no clue why the ref didn't say anything. So i won that match and had to face this guy that had half of an arm. One of my coaches said that the reason why nobody wins against him is because their afraid to grab his stump. So he said make sure i'm not afraid to grab the stump. And i won the match. Later i was the only one that walked away from that tourney with a 1st place medal. Certainly made me proud because we had some good wrestlers.
--------------------------------
End of boring Wrestling Nastalgia

As i was sorting through other stuff, i came across a lot of pictures. Pictures of Mission Trips, and concerts, and weddings, graduations, and just some good ole times. I'm lucky to have good friends that can hang around someone that can't smile worth a darn for a picture to be taken. But will certainly help me get through some times of homesickness.

Today is my day off of work, and here i am spending it sorting things. I think i'm supposed to go do fun stuff when i'm away from work.

Oh wait that will happen later in the weekend. I'll be going to Ill to celebrate Xmas with my bro in laws family. There adopting me for this xmas. How sweet of them. The visit will contain me fixing their computer, and watching the new King Kong video i think. And of course lots of laughs and sharing and visiting before i transfer to that far off land called California. I can't believe i only have like 3 weeks left here in indiana. I only have 7 working days left. CRAZY!!

Fantasy Football

For those of you who are unaware of the fantasy Football leagues that are going around. There are only 3 weeks left of regular season playing. Some have entered some sort of tournament, others have continued the regular play a repeated schedule once everyone has been played. Well we elected to drop the tournament and just go by overall wins.

I am currently 10-4. Which is a pretty darn good score. So good in fact i'm tied for 1st place at the moment. After this evenings festivities (Saturday game playing) i have scored 70 points with 3 people. 2 of them though scored a combined 64 points. That has pretty much locked me into a win for this week leaving only 2 weeks left. It will be an interesting fight because so many of the top ranked people (except me) play eachother which will knock each other out of the ranks, making me a possible 2nd or third placement giving me some cash back on my efforts.

Today was the Xmas Party. It was fun. Got to hang with kool Kats.

My apartment is locked in, for my temp living i think, so it should be a fun first two months. It will deffinately be hard to leave this place.

Moving man

So the guy came to appraise my apartment to see what all it would take to move me. NOT THAT MUCH. But i had my Steven Curtis Chapman Christmas CD playing as he came in, and he mentioned thats a great singer. And i was like yes he is i grew up listening to his music. And he actually mentioned his name, and we got to talking i have a guitar, at the church so that needs to be assessed in the move as well. And he plays for his church every week as well. It was a really cool connection.

thats all. just thought i'd let yall know.

musicians friend

so for the past like 4 weeks i have gotten 2+ emails a day from t his company that sells music stuff. I'm not offended with the once a month type thing. but 2 a day that beginning to sound a little cultlike. They have good deals on strings, so i probably won't stop shopping there, but seriously lay off the emails guys!!!!

Jeniffer Knappy

Need i say more. I was listening to Yahoo music through my messegner and Knappy came on and it reminded me of all the times Josh made of Jessica for liking her. Not sure i really ever listened to the music. It sure was making fun of Jessica though.

Anyways. So lately the radio has been playing some Christmas music (tis the season). I've been noticing some new songs by Steven Curtis Chapman. Does he have a new CD out? I pulled out my Xmas CD i have of him, and they aren't on that Album. Why wasn't i informed of this new album. I'm assuming he just did some singles for a compialation CD or something.

So Since i'll be moving to California and i have a webcam, i'll have to see if i can set the webcam out the window so you can see the destruction and vibrations of an earthquake. Oh wait bandwidth is slow on that. That probably won't work. Well anyways it was a thought.

Tonights on sale thing is a booklet filled with maps in Indiana. It was bought at a gas station because the dude i was driving with got lost and I knew we were deffinately heading the wrong direction when the sign said Sullivan 30 miles when we where supposed to be heading North towards Indianapolis.

Well hopefully tomorow i should find out a whole bunch of information having to deal with my living situations. It's so exciting.

I'm also thinking of possibly having some sort of send off party so i can see people before i leave. Not totally sure how this is all going to work, because i may not have a free weekend to do this. Nor do i know if i would even have any furniture or food for the party.

well thats all.

The Grand opening of K-Bay.com has officially opened. (Don't go to kbay.com its not where i'm selling stuf, its just a radio station). For a limited offer you can get the following items for a cheap low price that you decide to bid on. If you want them for free and nobody else posts that they want it, it's yours. So get it while there hot.

have you ever had one of those conversations with someone knowing that you were cool with the person prior to talking with them, then by the end of the conversation you just feel like something was wrong and everything wasn't honky doory between the two of you anymore? Ya that happened to me yesterday. I wasn't too thrilled about that. Not that this is the first time that that has ever happened nor will it be the last, especially when i'm married.

Which kind of brings me to my next subject. I have a friend right now that met someone a couple of states away (a good long drive). And it got me to thinking about relationships. I've obviously never really had to think about making plans with a significant other. So the decisions have pretty much been one sided nothing holding me back. Which is certainly a blessing to allow me that freedom. But seriously, I think back to all of the women (in college) that have either asked me out or showed interest in me, or i showed interest in. If they would even consider uprooting their life and moving to california to be around me, even though we weren't married. Obviously it would depend on the seriousness of the relationahip (which hopefully would be serious)... but of course hopefully if i was dating the women i would have consulted her about the move before i accepted. But still, it would be interesting to know who would and who wouldn't go. So many times i lady that i'm not really sure where I am headed. I really don't want to start anything, because i don't know if i can finish it... like ending up in California and her unwillingness to follow.

but anyways thats just something i kind of pondered this morning

So last night I had a dream that i was visiting the California plant visiting with the same people i met in California but in a totally different building. Oddly enough the Operations Manager lived right next to me. Which was weird becuase i hadn't moved to california. So ya that meant he lived in Indiana. And of course some other non important meaningless conversation occured between people. Im pretty sure it hasn't hit me yet that i'm moving.

I've only got 4-5 weeks left of working here in Gburg. Depending on if i get a week vacation approved prior to my move to California. So it's just weird to think about.

Tonight i think i'm going to go to texas roadhouse with Jason and Debbie to celebrate her Bday and my leaving since i'm usually gone somewhere. So ya thats just about it here.

I know you were worried

Phew. i didn't quite think i was going to make it. I know all of you guys were worried that i wasn't going to make it home in this huge snow storm. But I made it home safely.

In other news, i was surfing the web and found out that California had an earthquake of about 3.5. So thats interesting and scary all at the same time. I'll deffinately have to post about my surviving the earthquakes. Which kind of brings me to a new point. people here about computers getting fried through lightening storms, or having water damage because of leaving the window open at home while at work, or the obvious fire damage. You always think that will never happen to me. Well Earth quakes, there bound to happen, no stopping them. SO this makes me think that i'm going to have to have a safety deposit box or something so that if an earthquake does happen, maybe my computer web files won't totally be destroyed and have to start from scratch on everything?

everybody at work was freakin out about the snow and not having the ability to get home. obviously they never had there dad teach them how to drive in snow. Thanks dad. I fear no snow, escept the stuff that's higher than my wheels. That gets tough to drive over. haha.

anyways its at the end of the day. I had an offer to go celebrate a bday this saturday i think so i'll probably go do that this weekend since i won't have the ability to get to california.

Wednesday, December 07, 2005

So the following are some pictures from my california trip this past thanksgiving. So i flew in went to chruch, went to LA to look for apartments, got stuck in a lot of traffic, went home, ate a whole bunch of food, met with some old friends, went to san Fransisco, then flew home and had dinner with an old college friend ( i say old but i haven't been out of college for that long) and came home. The end, and these are some of the pictures.

Here is the same picture below but closer up. What you see in front of you is the beginning of the Grape Vine. This is the way i have to get back and forth to my parents. This road has been known to be close due to landslides and and snow coverage i think.

I know that some people have wanted to see pictures of smog so this at the moment is the best i could do. You can see mountains in the background. Unfortunately this is probably not smog. It's just fog coming off from the high mountains to the lower area's causing the moist atmosphere and creating fog not smog.

So on our way to pick up the gang at San Jose we passed 18 miles of dead traffic going the opposite direction. We luckily found an alternative route that allowed us to not have to be stuck in any of that jam.

Here is another picture of the Bridge

So here is a picture of the windmills that creates all of the wind for the midwest. We were driving to San Fransisco for a couple of days to look at some stuff. I just thought they were neet. I'm told by Eric J, that there are some on I65 going to Chicago or something. SO i guess it's not so cool. But still this is in california.

Here is another pic of the gang minus the parents.

According to my mother this is were people do fung Shwey? some sort of relaxing martial arts thing. The trees looked trimmed and weird. SO i figured why not take a picture.

If you think about the picture and the show full house. this is probably the spot where the Helicopter flew over to film the convertible car drive across the Golden Gate bridge for the theme song of Full House. I think one of my sisters broke out in tune after mentioning that to them.

I know all of you have been waiting to see this picture, but it's a picture of the most crookest street in the US. possibly world. I'm not totally sure. I'd hate to drive a bus down that street.

Here is me sitting on Bob's lap as with the scenery of the golden gate bridge behind us.

Here is the family at the motel we stayed. Pretty cool. I may have a panoramic picture of the view we had some time later if i can find the CD before i pack it to go to california.

Here is a picture of alcatraz. Unfortunately it was kind of cold, some people people didn't feel like going. So maybe next trip i'll get to see the inside. Oddly enough i'm more interested in seeing the insides because David copperfield did a magic show in the prison. Along with the Movie the Rock was filmed there, and of course all of the history.

here is a bunch of seals we saw at the Wharf

Here is a picture of me and the sis's and the bro in laws at Fisherman's Warf or Pier 39.. whichever you want to call it. We had a lot of fun here. The fam went to this rainforest restaurent which was neat. Especially the huge fish tanks, which i'm not sure you could really call tanks because it was more like a mansion compared to the normal fish tanks you see in people's homes. Bob and I and my Dad went to an Aquarium which was neat. There is one in Long beach i hope to go visit.

So at the end of my trip i was able to meet up with an old friend Allison. We had some good times eating and catching up. This is the first of my farewell pictures of friends and family i will take with me to california so i can remember all of you guys... sniff sniff

Whats up

Okay so i'm driving into West lafayette over the weekend and i see this huge billboard about a mile or two before the Highway 26 (lafayette) Exit. And it's promoting IU. What's the deal. I almost wanted to grab some eggs or something and start throwing them and torch the billboard. Fortunately for the billboard i figured that spending my last moments with friends is more important.

During the weekend i decided to bring back the Halo2 game that Eric and i never finished during the last time that i played. Well we finally beat it, and the ending pretty much blew huge chunks. There was no conclusion other than the fact that you would have to play Halo3 (if there is one coming out), which will be out on Xbox360, which i probably won't buy.

In case anybody was interested, i am tied for 3rd place in my Fantasy Football game.

This weekend i may spend with Jason and Debbie if i don't go to california, then the next weekend is the Xmas dinner for K.B. so that will kind of be a way to say goodbye to all of the kb people.

i'm back

Okay so i'm back in the town of Gburg, and my home computer doesn't seem to be working again. My luck this year with computers.

Anyways. I have lots of pics to share on the site of my trip, but unfortunately i can not upload them since i am not on that computer. Sure i could use my memory usb stick, but that would actually require me to do something. SO those will be up later.

The very end of the trip my family decided to go to San Fransisco and see the Golden Gate bridge, along with the crookedest road, the outside of alcatraz, and pier 39 which had an aquarium, stores, seals, and trolly's

On the way home, i had scheduled a visit with Allison. So that was really good to see her and chat for a while. Which i was informed that her and the nurses at Bloomington (indianapolis) hospital are regular visitors of the site. So hello Bloomington haha.

Well today it's snowing, which is nice. One last time to live through snow before i move to california!!! haha.

We'll i better go.
